Dr. S. B. Kelkar (Founder Director, NIO) was felicitated by giving a ‘Man Patra’ for his outstanding work in field of Ophthalmology and Community service on 25th Dec. 2012 by the Mayor of Pune, Mrs. Chanchala Kodre, at Mahatma Phule museum, Pune. Padmashree Dr. T. P. Lahane was the chief guest for the function. POS Congratulates Dr. Kelkar and his family for this achievement!

1. Took over as president, AIOS on 6th feb 2014.
2. 2nd edition of my book “simplifying eye care” meant for the common man, was published in late 2013 and is available in leading bookstores.

1. Won Joint 3rd Prize (Amateur Mix category) in K2S (Katraj to Sinhagad) the monsoon adventure race, 27 July 2013 organized by Enduro3.
2. Won 1st Prize (Amateur Mix category) in Rugged Sahyadri adventure race, Kolhapur, 31 Aug. 2013 organized by KASA.
3. Won 2nd Prize (40+ Hybrid category) in PBCh 5th edition Lavasa cycle race, 20 Oct. 2013.
4. Ran 3 Half marathons (organized by Satara Hill marathon, Pune running & Pune international marathon) between Sept 2013 and Dec. 2013.
5. Ran Full marathon in 5:14Hrs at Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, 19 Jan 2014.
6. Became ‘Super Randonneur’ by completing the Super BRM series of 200, 300, 400 and 600 in the current season in first attempt.

7. Won the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology silver award of 2012 for publication on traumatic cataracts in children (won in 2011 – glaucoma blindness & 2010 use of BSS in phaco)

2. Received Dr. Madhusudan Jhamwar Netraseva Award, given to young practicing Ophthalmologist for exemplary contribution in organizational, scientific & community work.
3. Became ‘Super Randonneur’ by completing the Super BRM cycling series of 200, 300, 400 and 600 km in the current season in first attempt. Also completed 1000km cycling in 72 hrs. This completion of 1000 km opened his entry to most prestigious cycling event of the world from Paris to breast and back to Paris possible.
4. Won Runner up Prize (40+ category) in Rugged Sahyadri adventure race, Kolhapur, 31 Aug. 2013 organized by KASA.
5. Second Runner up in Skylark Mountaineering Competition in Mix Category.
6. Ran 3 Half marathons (organized by Satara Hill marathon, Pune running & Pune international marathon).
7. Completed Pune Bicycle Championship at Sinhgad in 57 min.
