Know your president Dr. Tejaswini Walimbe!
Dr. Tejaswini Walimbe is a truly multifaceted and accomplished ophthalmologist.
She completed her MBBS and Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) from Government Medical College, Nagpur, followed by DNB training at GT Hospital, JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. She further honed her expertise through a fellowship in Medical Retina at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and a fellowship in Glaucoma and General Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli.
A dedicated academician and researcher, Dr. Mrs. Walimbe has authored multiple studies and has been an active faculty member at district, state, and national ophthalmic conferences.
Her landmark study on BAK-free Latanoprost was published in the Clinical Ophthalmology journal in 2016. She has also represented India at prestigious international platforms, including the World Ophthalmology Congress in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Walimbe briefly served as a lecturer at BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital. In 1999, she began her private practice with a modest 200 sq. ft. rented space in Sahakarnagar, Pune along with her husband Dr. Prasad.
Both worked very hard to develop their practice and in 2016 they started a well equipped superspeciality eye clinic which was inaugurated at the hands of honourable minister shri Nitin Gadkari. Their vision is to provide quality eye care with compassion at affordable cost to all patients.
She has participated and organised many health awareness activities in society. She has given interviews on radio , television & senior citizen’s clubs about eye health & eye problems like glaucoma.
Every year she organises glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy screening camp at her clinic.
Walimbe eye clinic conducted SSTC under the aegis of POS and MOS for consecutive 4 years which received great response from PG students and practicing ophthalmologists.
She organises free eye check up and eye health lectures for students of TEACH (training and education institute for hearing impaired children).
She did her “Yoga-parngat“ course from Yog Sadhana Pune and Basic Upanishada course from Bhishma Indic Society. She started online group ,”Yogpradnya” and conducted online free pranayam and meditation classes during covid period. She has arranged many lectures on omkar sadhana, yoga psychology.
She has given lectures on eye donation awareness and eye health at several places.
During covid period Dr. Tejaswini started you tube channel named ‘PALYAD’. Story telling episodes were released on this channel. The aim was to raise financial help for Eklavya foundation (founded by senior writer and social worker Renu tai Gawaskar), which works for orphan children.
She has authored 2 marathi books. ‘ Pahu Anande’ was released at the hands of wellknown writer and poet Aruna Dhere. This book won उत्कृष्ट ग्रंथ पुरस्कार from “Akhil Bhartiya Prakashak Sangha.” ‘Smruti sudha’ was released at the hands of honourable minister Shri Nitin Gadkari.
Dr.Tejaswini’s philosophy in life is “live the life fullest, the way you want”.
She is fond of making rangoli with different patterns from grains (grain rangoli).
She loves painting and hand embroidery.
She writes marathi articles,poems,standup comedies.
Dr. Tejaswini won gauri- ganapati decoration prize of PDA(poona doctors association) competition for 3 consecutive years.
Her proud moments – she got opportunity to interact with hon.defence minister Mr. Rajnath Singh.
In early years of her practice Dr. Prasad & Tejaswini worked at Mohan Thuse charitable hospital, Narayangaon.
Padmashree Dr.Manohar Dole was their well wisher. She was fortunate to get blessings from Dr.Venkatswamy, founder of Aravind eye hospital, Dr. G. Natchiyar, Dr.P.Nampermulswamy.
She got opportunity to work under the guidance of Dr. Ramkrishnan, director, AEH, Tirunelveli.

She was born in farmer family at Amravati. Her father Adv. Gajanan Rahatgaonkar was devoted worker of RSS.
